By rising the growth of electric vehicles the demand of EV charging stations is increasing day by day and till now there are around 29,000+ EV Charging Stations in India. There are total 36 states in India including UTs, and 8000+ cities and including villages the number of public EV charging station by 2030 is expected around 13.2 Lakh.

The above data is based on the Ministry of Power (MoP) Government of India. The above data shows that 60% of India’s EV charging station is covered by five states which are Karnataka, Maharashtra, U.P, Tamil Nadu and Delhi. Out of these charging station 8805 are fast charging stations and 20346+ are slow charging stations.

States Which Need Development in Public Charging Stations
As per the reports there are around 25 states which occupies Public Charging Station numbers below thousands. States like Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Puducherry, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Mizoram, Sikkim, UT of D&NH and D&D, Andaman & Nicobar, Ladakh, Lakshadweep need to setup more charging stations for better development.

To fulfill the demands of electric vehicles, India needs to setup around 13 lakh charging station by 2030 as the demand of charging vehicle (Two Wheelers, Four Wheelers, Commercial Vehicles) are increasing day by day.
EV Charging Stations by End of 2026
As per the reports and Ministry of Power (MoP) Guidelines the central government is developing the install Electric Vehicle charging station rapidly. If we talk about the number of EV charging stations by the end of 2026 then the expected figures are around 30,000 to 31,000. However, if your state or city comes in tier one (Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune) then you can expect much better charging infrastructure facilities.
Total EV Charging Stations in Delhi
According to the Ministry of Power (MoP) report there are total 2,326 electric charging stations in Delhi and it comes at 4th rank and Karnataka comes at first in terms of highest EV Charging Stations. However, the rapid development of EV charging infrastructure is expected to narrow the gap soon.
