BYD Fang Cheng Bao Formula S Coming With 900 Km of Range, Premium EV tech, 240 km/h top speed, & expected Q3 2026 launch in starting pricing of 200,000 yuan (₹28 lakh).

At the Beijing Auto Show China 2026 on 24 April 2026, BYD officially introduces the Fang Cheng Bao Formula S family and officially entering China’s production records through the MIIT filing on 11 June 2026, the Formula S is grabbing headlines with an impressive 900 km CLTC-certified driving range. Built on a 92.09 kWh LFP Blade battery, the flagship rear-wheel-drive version also produces 300 kW (402 hp) that make efficiency and performance its biggest highlights

And the Formula S family is schedule to go on sale in Q3 2026 and won’t arrive alone. It will join by the Formula S GT shooting brake, while buyers can choose between 76.74 kWh and 92.09 kWh battery packs, 245 kW, 300 kW, or 490 kW (657 hp) powertrains, and a 240 km/h top speed. With an official length of 5,060 mm, a 2,960 mm wheelbase, and advanced LiDAR-based driver assistance, BYD clearly aims to shake up the premium electric sedan market with its most technologically advanced Formula lineup.

New Powertrains & 900 KM Range Highlight

Well, the BYD will offer three powertrain options to suit different buyers. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive model develops 245 kW (329 hp) and the long-range version increases output to 300 kW (402 hp). The flagship all-wheel-drive model combines 190 kW and 300 kW motors for a total of 490 kW (657 hp). Every variant electronically limited to 240 km/h, balancing strong performance with long-distance efficiency.

But that not the main highlight, the biggest update is the 900 km CLTC-certified range of the flagship rear-wheel-drive Formula S that make it the longest-range model ever announce under the Fang Cheng Bao brand.

This model combines a 92.09 kWh BYD Blade LFP battery with a 300 kW (402 hp) rear motor. The entry model uses a 76.74 kWh battery for 720 km, while the Formula S GT shooting brake delivers 800 – 850 km and this put Formula S among China’s longest-range electric wagons.

Large Sedan, Practical Space, & Premium Cabin

Well, the Fang Cheng Bao Formula S brings a sleek fastback design which is 5,060 mm long, 1,967 mm wide, and 1,483 mm tall with a 2,960 mm wheelbase while the Formula S GT shooting brake is 5,025 mm long and extends to 5,095 mm with an optional tow hook.

And this model also offers a 500 kg towing capacity. Both models ride on 19 or 20 inch alloy wheels, feature frameless doors, flush door handles, full-width LED lighting, sculpted aerodynamic bumpers, and a sporty rear diffuser with kerb weights ranging from 1,999 kg to 2,280 kg depending on the variant.

BYD’s Smartest Technology

Well, the Formula S adopts a premium, driver-focused cockpit that combines luxury with technology. Spy photos reveal a large floating central touchscreen, fully digital instrument cluster, dedicated passenger entertainment display, and sporty flat-bottom steering wheel with physical shortcut buttons.

Every model gets a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor which confirms BYD’s latest intelligent driving hardware widely expected to run the new DiPilot 5.0 system. The Formula S is also expected to ride on BYD’s advanced 800V high-voltage platform with sources reports claiming to ultra-fast flash charging while higher trims expected to feature the DiSus intelligent adaptive suspension for improved ride comfort and handling.

Official Launch Confirmation

Just after the debut Auto China 2026, the Formula S family officially enter China’s MIIT homologation catalogue on 11 June 2026 with five production variants approved. BYD confirm manufacturing will take place at its Xi’an and Changzhou factories using its own motors, Blade batteries, and core EV components. Sales officially schedule to begin during Q3 2026.
