The Land Rover Defender is entering a new chapter as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) confirm that its upcoming compact Defender will arrive in 2027 with an electrified lineup. Built on the brand’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), the SUV widely carry the Defender Sport name and will introduce fully electric technology to the Defender family for the first time.

In a notable change to its original roadmap, JLR redesign the EMA platform to support both battery-electric (BEV) and full-hybrid (HEV) powertrains instead of offering an EV alone.
