Mercedes-Benz introduces the CLA EV in India, priced from ₹55 lakh, with a 792km range, fast charging, and luxurious features.
Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the all-new CLA EV in India, marking a major step towards electrification. With an initial price of ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom), the electric sedan will replace the A-Class Limousine, alongside the EQA and EQB EVs, and will also serve as a new entry point for the brand. The nameplate is not new to India, although this is its first all-electric version, an amalgamation of luxury, performance, and advanced technologies in a smooth coupe-like shape.
Pricing
Mercedes-Benz CLA EV comes in three different forms:

The first entry-level version is centered on both comfort and efficiency, whereas the AMG Line features sportier styling. The exclusive Launch Edition is distinguished by its high-quality additions and limited availability.

Variants and Design Highlights
There are two main variants of the CLA EV: 200 Standard Range and 250+ Long Range. The latter is included as part of the AMG Line package, which includes a sporty design, such as redesigned bumpers, AMG alloy wheels, and a more aggressive stance.
Exclusivity is further enhanced by a special Launch Edition featuring a matte-black exterior finish, 19-inch alloy wheels, illuminated door sills, special ambient lighting, and leather upholstery. It also features another best-in-show Superscreen configuration: a triple-screen display that spans the dashboard.
The design of the CLA EV is still classy yet aerodynamic, with a low drag coefficient of 0.21, among the lowest in its category. Mercedes Signature features distinctive styling elements such as 142-lit 3-pointed stars on the front grille, and star-shaped LED lighting features at each end.
Interior and Features
The CLA EV features a futuristic, tech-savvy cabin. It is fitted as standard with a full-width digital display panel including a 14-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch driver display and an illuminated decorative panel.

This can be upgraded with the Superscreen, which provides an extra passenger screen, in higher variants, and in the Launch Edition. Other features of the AMG Line include a flat-bottom steering wheel, metal pedals, and sportier seat upholstery.

Battery, Range and Performance
The CLA EV range begins with the 200 Standard Range, which uses a 58kWh battery that has a range of up to 542km under WLTP certification. It generates 224hp and 335 N·m, allowing it to sprint 0-100kph in 7.5 seconds.
The Long Range variant 250 (85kWh NMC) has an impressive WLTP range of up to 792km. It has a more powerful engine with 272hp, reducing the time to accelerate from 0 to 100kph to 6.7 seconds.
The most intriguing fact is that both versions have a two-speed transmission, as with the Porsche Taycan, which is more efficient and efficient than conventional single-speed EV configurations.
Charging and Efficiency
Based on a developed 800 V platform, the CLA EV enables rapid 320kW charging, enabling a 300km range charge in just 10 minutes.
The extreme range is also enhanced by its aerodynamic efficiency, achieved through careful design that minimises drag while providing a stylish coupe-like appearance.
India-Specific Enhancements
Mercedes-Benz has done this by modifying the CLA EV to fit Indian conditions by raising ground clearance to suit Indian road conditions and get the vehicle to ride comfortably over the mixed surfaces on the Indian roads. The EV also has an 8-year/160,000 km warranty on its battery, which provides buyers with a sense of security.
Rivalry and Positioning
The CLA EV competes with top-end electric sedans such as the BYD Seal at its price. The CLA EV has already generated a strong buzz among Indian buyers, and since March 10, we have received more than 400 bookings.
Celebration Editions Introduced
Mercedes-Benz also launched the Celebration Editions of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, in addition to its CLA EV, to celebrate its 140th anniversary. Limited to 140 units each, these editions feature additional equipment such as a dash camera, rear-seat entertainment screens, and exclusive accessories, priced at ₹62.40 lakh and ₹82.70 lakh, respectively.
The CLA EV is a blend of luxury, efficiency, and new technology, which makes it a strong alternative in the evolving Indian premium electric market as an entry point to Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles in India.
