JSW Jaecoo J5 launch officially confirm by 2027 with 461 km claimed range, 130 kW fast charging, Level 2 ADAS, and pricing upto ₹18 to ₹24 lakh.

JSW Motors officially confirm that the Jaecoo J5 electric SUV is heading to India with its launch expected between late 2026 and early 2027. Develop under the company’s partnership with Chery Automobile, the premium EV will locally assembled in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra and expected to priced between ₹18 to ₹24 lakh that make it a strong new entrant in the mid-size electric SUV segment.

Before the official debut, the Jaecoo J5 already generated buzz through multiple road tests and its premium “baby Range Rover” styling. The SUV likely to feature a 61 kWh battery, upto 461 km claimed range, 130 kW DC fast charging, 210 hp electric motor, a large 13.2-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS, setting the stage for an exciting showdown with rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 7 Electric SUV.

Jaecoo J5 Launch & Local Production

JSW Motors confirm that the Jaecoo J5 EV will launch in India between late 2026 and early 2027, following the debut of the Jetour T2-based plug-in hybrid SUV during the 2026 festive season.

Bookings for the brand’s first model expected to begin around November 2026 while the J5 will be part of JSW’s plan to introduce 14 passenger vehicles over the next four years. The Jaecoo J5 will assembled in India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model at JSW Motors’ upcoming 300-acre manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

As per initial production capacity of around 5 lakh vehicles annually. The company also plans to increase localisation and expand its supplier network to improve pricing and support future production.

Jaecoo J5 Exterior Design & Styling

The Jaecoo J5 adopts a premium SUV design that has already attracted attention during Indian road tests. This 4,380 mm in length offers proportions similar to popular mid-size SUVs while featuring a more premium appearance inspired by luxury models.

Key exterior highlights include a flat bonnet, upright front profile, active aerodynamic grille, connected LED tail lamps, sleek LED headlamps, flush-style door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels. Once launch in India, JSW branding expected to replace the international Jaecoo badging.

Jaecoo J5 Battery, Range, Charging, & Performance

The India-spec JSW Jaecoo J5 expected to arrive only as a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), skipping the petrol and hybrid versions sold overseas. This Jaecoo J5 is likely to feature a front-mounted electric motor producing around 210 hp and 288 Nm, paired with a 60.9-61 kWh battery pack which will offer a claimed driving range of upto 461 km (NEDC).

Performance expected to include a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 7.3 – 7.7 seconds and a top speed of around 175 km/h. The battery will reportedly support 130 kW DC fast charging, taking 10-80% in about 28 – 33 minutes while a full charge using a standard AC charger is expected to take roughly 6.5 hours.

Inside, the Jaecoo J5 expected to offer one of the most feature-rich cabins in its segment. Test vehicles reveal a 13.2-13.5-inch vertically mounted touchscreen, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 50W wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, and premium upholstery.

Not just that, interior cabin features also include ventilated front seats, powered front seats, multi-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone connectivity, multiple USB Type-C ports, a 540-degree camera system, and a premium audio setup aimed at enhancing everyday comfort.

Suspension, Comfort, & Safety Features

The J5 also expected to focus on ride comfort with MacPherson front suspension and an independent rear multi-link suspension, supported by a high-rigidity body structure of around 23,500 Nm/deg.

Other highlights could include a 540-degree HD camera, double-glazed windows for lower cabin noise, ventilated and powered front seats, ISOFIX mounts and a premium chassis setup designed for better stability and highway comfort.

Safety expected to be one of the biggest strengths of the JSW Jaecoo J5. The SUV likely to offer Level 2 ADAS with upto 17-19 advanced driver assistance features which include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Driver Attention Monitoring, Electronic Stability Control, and 6-7 airbags.

JSW Jaecoo J5 Expected Price & Global Rivals

JSW Jaecoo J5 expected to be priced between ₹18 to ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. And when come globally prices start from around AUD 25,990 (Australia) for petrol variants and AUD 36,990 for the EV while markets like Malaysia and South Africa also offer the SUV in multiple trims. This model likely to compete with Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Kia Syros EV, Tata Curvv EV, BYD Atto 3, Zeekr 9X, Hyundai Kona Electric, and VinFast VF 7.

Looking on paper, the JSW Jaecoo J5 is a well round package rather than just another electric SUV. Its real success will depend on whether JSW can match its promised specifications with competitive pricing, strong after-sales support, and reliable service. So, if the model gets these fundamentals right, then Jaecoo J5 every chance of becoming one of the most compelling premium EV launches in India between late 2026 and early 2027.
