Introducing the new-gen Atto 3 at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, BYD implements more modern design, increases in size, new technology of Blade Baptists, and rapid casters.

The next-generation Atto 3 by Chinese EV giant BYD was introduced at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, featuring major improvements in design, features, and performance. The new model, called the Yuan Plus in China, is a larger, more advanced battery technology, in-cabin-experience-enhanced version of its current success, and solidifies its presence in the competitive market of electric sports-utility vehicles.

Pricing

Though BYD has not officially indicated the price of the new-generation Atto 3 in India, the new car is expected to be more expensive than the existing one. The 2026 Atto 3 new version in India will be priced between Rs. 24.99 lakh and Rs. 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With these massive upgrades, the new-gen variant might be slightly above this range in the future when it arrives, probably in the second half of 2026.

Design and Exterior Updates

The new-gen Atto 3 features a revised design language, with a new front fascia and sculpted bumper, giving it a sharper, more modern look. It can now use larger alloy wheels (up to 19 inches) and features semi-flush door handles, which improve aerodynamics and style.

Other features include a floating roof design, redesigned tail-lamps, and an illuminated BYD logo in the rear, which adds a touch of luxury. In sum, these changes give the SUV greater road presence.

Bigger Dimensions, More Space

Atto 3 is a considerably bigger chip than the former. Its length, width, and height (4,665mm, 1,895mm, and 1,675mm, respectively) are longer, wider, and taller than the present India-spec car.

The wheelbase has been extended to 2,770mm, resulting in better cabin space and comfort. It is also made more practical, featuring a 750-litre boot capacity and an extra 180 litres of frunk space, which can be used in day-to-day activities as well as on extended journeys.

Interior and Features

On the inside, the new-gen Atto 3 features a redesigned interior with a two-spoke steering wheel and a more comfortable front passenger seat with longer recline.

The list of features has been improved greatly and incorporated:

  • Panoramic glass roof
  • 256-colour ambient lighting
  • 16-speaker audio system- in-premium.
  • 50W wireless charging
  • USB Type-C fast charging (60W).
  • Refrigeration/air conditioning.

The SUV will also be equipped with an advanced driver-assistance system in China, featuring LiDAR assistance, which underscores BYD’s push towards smarter mobility.

Powertrain and Battery Technology

BYD also unveils its second-generation Blade Battery technology in the new-gen Atto 3, with enhanced energy density and a faster charge rate. The battery packs are 57.54kWh and 68.54kWh, with ranges of 540km and 630km, respectively, certified by CLTC.

An electric motor with power ratings of 272hp and 327hp is mounted at the rear of the vehicle to ensure good performance in either configuration.

Among the most striking improvements is BYD’s Flash Charging technology, which can recharge the battery from 10 percent to 97 percent in only 9 minutes; this greatly minimizes wasted time and increases convenience for users.

India Launch Outlook

Atto 3 is now the cheapest product BYD offers in India, and the company has already updated the model in 2026. Though this is not confirmed yet, the new-generation Atto 3 is likely to make its way to India by late 2026, introducing the latest developments in design, performance, and technology.

Being bigger, more powerful, and better equipped, the new-generation Atto 3 reinforces BYD’s EV offerings and might help the company further increase its popularity among Indian consumers interested in high-end electric SUVs.
