The company captured 38.5% of the market which means nearly four out of every ten electric cars sold in India during June carried the Tata badge. Strong demand for the Nexon EV, Punch EV, Upcoming Tata Nano EV, and the refreshed Tiago EV helped Tata achieve another record-breaking month.
Mahindra Closes the Gap, MG Holds Third Position
Well, the Mahindra strengthen its position as India’s second-largest passenger EV maker by selling a record 7,645 units, an impressive 118% year-on-year increase. Backed by the BE 6, XEV 9e, and new XEV 9S, the company expand its market share to 24.5%.
On other the hand, the JSW MG Motor India retained third place with 5,785 units, up 23% YoY, although its market share declined to 18.5% amid intensifying competition. The Windsor EV remained MG’s biggest volume driver.

Both brands are expected to scale up further with higher production and new model introductions.
BYD, Kia, & Hyundai Show Mixed Performance
BYD India continued its steady growth by selling a record 860 EVs, marking a 69% year-on-year increase ahead of the launch of the Seal U PHEV or later launch of New-Gen BYD Atto 3. Kia India emerged as one of the fastest-growing brands with 446 units, posting a remarkable 792% growth following the arrival of the Kia Syros EV & Carens Clavis EV. In contrast, Hyundai Motor India sold 347 EVs, down 42% YoY, as rising competition weighed on demand for the Creta Electric and Ioniq 5.
Luxury EV Market Hits a Record High
India’s luxury electric vehicle segment also achieved its best-ever monthly performance in June 2026 with 801 retail sales more than doubling from 390 units a year ago. BMW India dominated the segment with 486 units, capturing nearly 61% market share which follow by Mercedes-Benz 234 units.
