GWM’s Wey V8X spotted testing reveal with China’s MIIT Filing approval, 724 hp, LiDAR, 5040 mm body, and an expected 250,000 – 300,000 yuan (₹29.8 to ₹35.8 lakh) launch price.

China’s premium electric SUV battle just welcomed a powerful new car as the Wey V8X Electric SUV made its first official appearance in the 409th batch of China’s MIIT filings. Develop by Great Wall Motor on the GWM One Platform, this five seater is 5,040 mm long which comes with dual motor AWD setup combining 220 kW UAES front motor and 320 kW SVOLT rear motor that offers total output of 540 kW (724 hp) and 220 km/h top speed.

The newly reveal filing also confirms a roof-mounted LiDAR, SVOLT nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery, 2,968 mm wheelbase, 2,545 kg curb weight, active cooling air intakes, and several factory options that too with digital side mirrors, streaming-media cameras, and 20 or 21 inch alloy wheels. With simple approval now complete, the Wey V8X moves step closer to its official launch in China’s fast-growing premium EV market.

Dual Motor Performance

Well, performance is one of the biggest talking points of the new Wey V8X. The front axle uses the Bosch backed UAES YS220QY234 induction e-motor producing 220 kW (295 hp) while the rear gets the SVOLT QT70TZ220001 permanent-magnet motor with 320 kW (429 hp). Together they generate 540 kW (724 hp), sending power to all four wheels through a single-speed electric drivetrain. And also reaches 220 km/h as top speed.

With above intersting performance data, you must be eager to know about battery and other related things. So, this must be known to you that the Wey V8X packs a nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) ternary lithium-ion battery supplied by SVOLT Energy Technology, although battery capacity (kWh) remains undisclosed.

Great Wall Motor has not confirm the official CLTC driving range, DC fast-charging, or AC charging figures. But all the sources claims that the SUV is likely to use GWM’s next-generation high-voltage charging architecture with industry expectations pointing toward a driving range of over 600 km to rival premium electric SUVs.

The Wey V8X makes an instant impression with its clean EV styling that features a closed front fascia, active cooling air intakes, a full-width LED light signature, roof-mounted LiDAR, traditional pull-type door handles, and 20- or 21-inch alloy wheels.

And for bold road presence full size dimensions like 5,000 or 5,040 mm in length, 2,025 mm in width, 1,808 or 1,823 mm in height, and a 2,968 mm wheelbase. Well, the Wey V8X brings cutting-edge chassis technology with closed dual-chamber air suspension, EDC continuously variable damping, and 20-degree rear-wheel steering for improved comfort and agility. Safety boosted by a roof-mounted LiDAR, multi-camera ADAS, 360-degree streaming media system, Event Data Recorder (EDR), and body using upto 88% ultra-high-strength steel with 2,200 MPa crash protection.

Launch, Expected Price, & Rivals

Now comes the most important thing, the Wey V8X Electric SUV surfaced through China’s MIIT filing on 11 July 2026, clearing an important step before production. Great Wall Motor expected to unveil the premium five-seater officially in the second half of 2026 with deliveries likely to begin in China before the end of the year.

All the inside sources claims that the pricing will be between 250,000 to 300,000 yuan which is approx. ₹29.8 to ₹35.8 lakh, this position the V8X against the Upcoming Li Auto i9, Nio ES8 New Five Seater, Onvo L90, Aito M9 EV, Yangwang U8 EV, & Zeekr 9X.
